From July 3 to 5, Zhou Wei, deputy secretary of the CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee and mayor of Changzhou, led a delegation to Beijing to visit central state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and prominent companies, aiming to secure stronger support and development opportunities to advance Changzhou’s high-quality economic and social development.
China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (CEEC), a national leader in energy, power, and infrastructure construction, is a mega-sized energy engineering conglomerate providing services such as project planning, consulting, surveying, and design. During discussions with the group’s General Manager Ni Zhen, Zhou Wei stated that in recent years, Changzhou has thoroughly implemented General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important directives on developing new quality productive forces and fostering a smart energy industrial ecosystem centered on the closed-loop chain of “generation, storage, transmission, application, and connectivity.” He expressed hopes to deepen cooperation in energy services, smart grids, and related fields based on existing collaborations, accelerating the creation of landmark achievements.
Ni Zhen responded that CEEC would leverage its strengths in talent, R&D, operational management, and industrial integration to enhance exchanges with Changzhou, advancing collaboration in new power systems R&D, talent cultivation, overseas market expansion, and jointly writing a new chapter of development.
The delegation also visited China National Salt Industry Group (CNSG) to discuss further central-local cooperation. Zhou noted that central SOEs are key drivers in developing new quality productive forces, and CNSG has achieved fruitful results through collaboration with Changzhou. He urged the group to allocate more high-quality projects, innovation resources, and industrial layouts to Changzhou in its 15th Five-Year Plan. Changzhou will provide efficient services and robust support to facilitate CNSG’s industrial upgrading and technological innovation in the city, achieving complementary advantages and synergistic development.
CNSG Party Secretary and Chairman Li Yaoqiang stated that the group would actively align with Changzhou’s development strategies and industrial needs, accelerating equipment upgrades, transformation, and the application of new technologies in cutting-edge fields such as salt-cavern hydrogen and helium storage. He pledged in-depth research on cooperative projects to drive efficient resource alignment and deliver more outcomes.
Segway-Ninebot, an innovative enterprise specializing in smart short-distance transportation and robotics, operates its R&D and production base in Changzhou—the world’s largest for smart short-distance transportation products. Zhou congratulated the company on its achievements in smart mobility and robotics and welcomed its further expansion of investments, R&D, and application scenarios in Changzhou. He emphasized the city’s commitment to building a superior ecosystem for mutually beneficial collaboration between renowned enterprises and the city.
Gao Lufeng, chairman of Segway-Ninebot, outlined the company’s strategic plans and updates on R&D, production, and sales. He expressed intentions to integrate into Changzhou’s broader initiative to build a “Capital of New Energy,” deepening roots in the city and jointly advancing the integration of sci-tech innovation with industrial upgrading.
During their stay in Beijing, the delegation also visited the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and the National Energy Administration (NEA). Fang Jing, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee and vice mayor of Changzhou, and Zhou Chengtao, secretary-general of the Municipal Government, participated in related activities.
